Everything else there is to do

Bridport rewards a bit of wandering. This is the long list the locals point visitors to — pick a few and work your way through.

On the water

  • Snorkel Mermaids Pool, then rock-hop across to Granite Point
  • Find Elephant Rock between Eastmans and Goftons beaches
  • Swim from Elephant Rock to Croquet Lawn, Old Pier or Mermaids Pool beach
  • Drift-snorkel the channel on an incoming tide — strong swimmers only, well clear of the boat ramp
  • Walk out to the 100 Sisters rocks at very low tide (check with the Surf Life Saving Club first)
  • Hunt for creatures in the rock pools — look, don’t touch

On foot & on wheels

  • Walk the foreshore track from the bridge, reading the history panels as you go
  • Take the Bridport walking track — Brid River, the mill dam and the watercourse
  • Ride out to Adams Beach and on to the Little Forrester River (bike hire available)
  • Cycle to Barnbougle or Lost Farm for coffee, breakfast or lunch
  • Try a trick at the skate park on a bike, scooter or skates

Fishing

  • Off the rocks at Adams Beach or the Croquet Lawn
  • The mouth of the channel at Trent Water
  • The Brid River or the Little Forrester River
  • Inland fishing brochures at the visitor centre

Golf, tennis & games

  • Barnbougle Dunes, Lost Farm or the Bridport Golf Club
  • Two public tennis courts — one in town, one at the Old Pier; gear hire at the visitor centre
  • Rollin’ tennis, frisbee golf and sandcastles for the kids

Seasonal & family

  • Nippers (5–12) and Surf Sports (13+) Sunday mornings in January and February at the Surf Life Saving Club
  • Ask the club about Swim the Pier over summer
  • Freshly split Tasmanian scallops, roughly June to December
  • Scenic flights with Unique Charters at Flinders Island Aviation

Slow it down

  • Sunset at Old Pier Beach, or sunrise from any beach in town
  • The health spa at Lost Farm, or a local therapist below
